Sort Through Your Items First

Before the truck shows up, take a walk through the areas you want cleared. This doesn't mean organizing everything perfectly. Just make sure you know what's going and what's staying.

Put sticky notes on large items you want removed. Move anything you're keeping to a separate area. The last thing you want is your grandmother's antique dresser accidentally loaded onto the truck because it was sitting next to the old broken one.

Clear a Path

Our crews can navigate around obstacles, but having a clear path from your junk to the truck makes everything faster. Move cars from the driveway if possible. Open gates ahead of time. If you're clearing out a basement or upstairs room, make sure the stairway is clear.

Think about it this way: every extra minute the crew spends moving around obstacles is time that could be spent loading the truck.

Know Your Problem Items

Some things require extra handling or disposal fees. Hot tubs, pianos, and safes are heavy and take more labor. Refrigerators and air conditioners contain refrigerants that need proper disposal.

If you have these items, contact the Ada County Household Hazardous Waste facility. They can handle disposal safely.

The Day of Service

Be home when the crew arrives, or have someone there who can make decisions. Sometimes we find items you forgot about, or there's a question about what goes and what stays.

Make sure pets are secured. Even the friendliest dog can get in the way—or worse, slip out an open door while we're loading.

What Happens to Your Stuff?

This is a question we get a lot. Here's the honest answer: we try to keep as much out of the landfill as possible.

Usable items go to local donation centers like the Idaho Youth Ranch or Goodwill. Recyclable materials get sorted. Electronics go to certified e-waste recyclers. Only the stuff that truly can't be reused or recycled ends up at the landfill.
